Our Vision:
We will grow the number of players, coaches, officials, spectators and volleyball enthusiasts.

Treasurer Candidate Bios:
Franco Marcos
Current Southwest Rep; board member since 2000; player, coach and referee in Wisconsin since 1980. I have been on the Badger Region Board since 2000 as both SW Rep and Assoc. Commissioner. Franco says: “I have a passion for the sport of volleyball and would like to continue dedicating my time and effort to keep the sport that I love growing in this great state of Wisconsin. I would like to run for Treasurer to be more involved in the day to day operation of the Badger Region. The Badger Region has done a great job recognizing that in order to be successful it needed to create and maintain a diverse board that represents the members of the region.  It will be a challenge with USAV and JVA competing for membership and I am up for the challenge.”

Chad Schreiber

Board Member since 2006; current North East Rep; current 15th year Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s teams at Lakeland College and Assistant Athletic Director; current Director for Go Fish VBC a junior girls’ club; current WVC Advisory Board; former Assistant Coach at UW-Sheboygan, UW-Oshkosh; former player at UW-Oshkosh. “I have enjoyed my years as part of the board. I feel my many perspectives helped the board. While the region continues to prosper there are still exciting opportunities of development to accommodate that growth and expand both our programs and support. During our long range planning sessions I became interested in being a part of helping seeing these initiatives through…with a special emphasis on developing boy’s and adult volleyball opportunities. Being involved in the Badger Region through collegiate club, adult club, club director, and now board member has been a positive experience that I would like to continue to give back to.  I feel my experience on similar committees such as my recent position as the NCAA Division III national chair for volleyball would make me an asset to the region.”

Northeast Rep Candidate Bios:
Alan Capps
I am the Founder & Director of the Eclipse Volleyball Club. I started coaching in 1995 in Bedford, TX at a small Christian School where I was teaching. I had no idea how to coach, but I wanted to, and evidently that was enough. I went to every clinic I could go to and read every drill book I could get my hands on (at that point, I wasn’t coaching, I was just having my girls do cool drills!). When I moved back to Wisconsin, I knew that I wanted to continue coaching so I started my club career with the Milwaukee Breeze. The level of athlete was so much higher and by this time I was figuring out that I should approach coaching like I teach. So I came up with a unit plan, with individual practice plans. I became the varsity coach at Dodgeland High School in Juneau, WI, but budget cuts got me after one year. I was hired by Hartford Union High School (where I have been for 7 years). They already had a varsity volleyball coach, so I started a volleyball club!  I went to the Coaches Accreditation Program I two years ago, and of course it challenged me to rethink many things that I had taken for granted.  I had become stagnate, and have used the last two years to re-energize my coaching. I have coached volleyball teams in China (2005), Australia (2007), Italy (2009) and in 2011 we will go to Brazil. I love seeing the strength of character and confidence that these young ladies gain through their experiences with our club. I believe that the key to success is being foundationally sound in all of our basic skills. I will bring excitement and energy to this position and I promise you that I will work hard to represent the interests of our clubs in all I do. My favorite quote sums up my views nicely, “Know your limits, then break through them!”

Laine Leitzke
Laine Leitzke has been around the game of volleyball his entire life. Although he never played in school, he spent many years in volleyball gyms, watching his sister play and parents coach. His club volleyball experience started in 1999 when he took over duties as webmaster and tournament director for Wisconsin PoWer. In the following year, he began coaching and has coached one or two teams every club season since. Many will recognize him from tournament desks at the major tournaments in Wisconsin, he is a master of the AES system and is hired by organizations to help run their tournaments. Laine is also the Varsity volleyball coach at Horicon High School. Laine has seen many sides of club volleyball and believes he has a lot of insight and ideas to offer the Badger Region as part of the board.

B.J. LeRoy

My region involvement began in 1993, when a group of us formed the committee to start the Badger Region. After we started the region, I was elected as the NE WI Representative in 1995 and served three terms. Through involvement with my men’s Nationals adult team, I have served the board as the Adult Chair from 2007 to present. I directed the Lakeland Attack junior club for 14 years and have also worked as a tournament director, camp director and coach since 1990. My coaching experience is with Lakeland Attack, Howards Grove High School and Lakeland College. I serve as a Region Ethics and Eligibility arbitrator. As a coach, I am CAP Level II certified and a region IMPACT instructor. Fellow coaches nominated me to the WVCA Coaches Hall of Fame in 2001, and I am a recipient of USA Volleyball’s Robert L. Lindsay Meritorious Service Award. My main focus areas at the board level include keeping participant fees and costs to a minimum; increasing participation in adult, beach, junior and paralympic competition; and helping to ensure long-term financial and leadership stability for our region.

Southeast Rep Candidate Bios:
Chuck Borga
I'm interested in being considered for the SE representative position currently open within the Badger Region. I believe my volleyball experiences and on-going passion for the game continue to drive me to look for opportunities where I can help promote volleyball within the Wisconsin area. I am the club director for Muskego Stars and have been a coach with the program since 1999. I am also the Muskego High School JV Boys head coach and an assistant for the Varsity, having held these positions since 2006. I am also active at St. Leonard’s Middle School, starting the boys volleyball program in 2002 and also running the summer volleyball camps for grades 3 through 8. I hope you see by the resume that my interest and passion for the game continues to grow.  Whether it is leading a global initiative for my employer, coaching, directing a club or conducting a volleyball camp, I enjoy working with people and making a difference through my participation. I was named the USAV Robert L. Lindsay Meritorious Service Award winner in 2008 and have CAP Level I and American Sport Education Program (ASEP) certifications. My goals are to promote and expand the volleyball sporting experience within Wisconsin through the resources available in my day to day activities (HS, club, middle school involvement, etc.), to represent club teams to the best of my ability based on the variety of volleyball experiences to-date (club coaching and director, HS and middle school coaching) and to leverage my business experiences for a multi-national company to see how/if there are any business components of USAV that can be enhanced for the benefit of the game, the clubs and participants involved.

Jim Momsen, CPT

I have been involved in volleyball as a recreational league player (in the 80s-90s), a volleyball dad (in the 00s), and an official (since 2003). My experience with Badger Region began as an official in 2003. With the help of many mentors, I received my Regional Referee rating in 2006 and my Junior National Referee rating in 2008. I’m also a certified clinician for the Badger Region and enjoy facilitating the scorekeeping and rules clinics every fall. I have served as the Badger Region Officials Assigner since 2006 and the Southeast Rep for Badger Region since 2008 - participating on two player eligibility Boards of Review during my term. I am also an active PAVO/NCAA official and currently serve as the Board Chair for the Wisconsin Board of Officials as well as assigning Line Judges for Marquette University and some of the local NCAA Div. III schools. Volleyball is a great sport. Obviously, I’m very passionate about the game of volleyball and all of the wonderful people involved. I’ve been a strong advocate for the officials that I assign and help to train, and feel the urge to continue do more for the game by serving as an advocate for the members of the Badger Region through the SE Rep position. I want to give as much as I can back to the game that meant so much to my father, to give “kids of all ages” (players, parents, fans, coaches, and officials) a positive environment in which to participate, and have them be lifelong fans of the game. “How tough could that be?”
